THE PREGNANT BITCH
When the time is near for the bitch to whelp every care is taken for her needs. The vet is made aware of the event so he can be ready if needed, she is kept in her own space for peace and quiet so she can get ready for the forthcoming event. Her whelping box is big enough to cater for her moving around and making ready. She has warm, clean and soft bedding and round the clock care until she begins her labours. At this point timing is critical to ensure that she does not become over stressed .If we feel at any point the labor is not going to plan and the pains are prolonged and uneventful ( inertia ) then a section is possibly on the cards. The Vet is informed and the bitch is taken along with a box with plenty of warm bedding and a hot water bottle for the whelps until they get home.

THE PUPPIES
Are brought home to a ready prepared whelping box.Everybody has their own prefered way of looking after the Dam and pups we prefer to keep the puppies with the Dam at all times under supervision. If extra milk is needed i.e 'top ups' for a big litter we use a product called Whelpi. The puppies begin to be weaned at around 3-4 weeks of age beginning on Rusks Baby porridge and baby rice mixed with Whelpi and gradually introducing meat and other products at their pace.  By 6-8 weeks old they are free from Mum's milk and on their own feeding regime.  Before the puppies leave they are taken for a prelimenary vet check and now will be BAER Tested as part of our rearing programme.
They all leave with a menu, worming timetable, do's and donot's bully style.  We are here for advice and help or find help where we can. All we ask is our puppies are looked after and loved.

No breeder can truly guarantee flesh and bone all we can do is to research the studs we use as much as is possible and hope all parties are honest.  Any puppy we keep becomes part of the Borsalino pack and lives along side all the other members .
and a hot water bottleans she is taken along with a warm box with plenty of covers and a hot water bottdd text.

Many of you may be aware of the controversy surrounding vaccination boosters.Something I feel people should be aware of and it's possible implication on a young dogs health,  is the puppy vaccinations now available at a mere 6weeks !!!!! Whilst I agree it is a personal choice of the owners are they also aware that  puppies have acquired immunity from their Dams, if husbandry is good, the puppies are clean and well cared for.We donot recommend puppies be vaccinated before they are ten weeks old, if they are kept in their own home we feel ten weeks is early enough, with the final one at 12-14 weeks. There is an interesting paper  to read on www.sciencedirect.com  ''Vaccines side effects: fact an fiction'' by M.J. Day

Thoughts are also being put forward by many vets that at least 3 years minimum space for a booster shot, many also recommending a pre vaccination blood test to ascertain whether or not your dog is still immune, whilst tests cost money for those who want to boost their animals  a blood test is better than having an over vaccinated animal, with all the terrible side effects.
VACCINATING YOUR PUPPY.
BUYING YOUR PUPPY
A lot of thought and planning should be done before the purchase of your BT Puppy, Be it your first or an addition to the family, research your breeder carefully .
There has been a high number of registrations over the last 12 months, 2007,more than 1,000 in the last quarter of 2006. Many from uncaring breeders with no thought for the specialist animal it is, we have to hope these puppies will go to understanding homes and not end up in Welfare.
The glamorous show dog you were promised may not turn out to be so, what are you going to do with him/her.?? If you have a small family have you the time to train a BT , are you planning a family if so why do you want a bull terrier puppy, odd as these questions might be, it is puppies sold to young families that often end up sadly in welfare .
BT puppies are very demanding , can you cope with a baby and a puppy?
Finally if your new partner doesn't like your BT find a new one that does good dogs are hard to find.
